Big news is blooming here at Sunflower Counseling Center! 🌻
If you’ve been following our journey, you know that our heart beats for one thing: making sure that everyone in our community has a safe, warm, and affordable place to heal. We believe that mental health care shouldn't be a luxury: it should be a right. And because so many of you have trusted us with your stories, your families, and your healing, we’ve officially outgrown our current pot.
We are so excited to announce that Sunflower Counseling Center is opening a brand-new office in Stone Mountain this July!
This isn't just about new walls and a different zip code. It’s about more room for you. It’s about more chairs for families to sit in, more space for children to play and express themselves, and more opportunities to break the chains of mental health stigmas that have held our neighbors back for far too long.
But here’s the thing: we can’t do this alone. Just like a sunflower needs sun, water, and good soil to reach its full height, our new home needs a little help from its community to truly blossom.
Why We’re Growing (and Why It Matters to You)
You might be wondering, "Why Stone Mountain? Why now?"
The truth is, the need for accessible mental health services is growing faster than we ever imagined. Every day, we meet individuals who are fighting silent battles with anxiety, couples trying to find their way back to each other, and parents looking for ways to support their children’s emotional well-being.
By opening this new location, we’re doubling down on our mission. We’re moving closer to the people who need us, cutting down travel times, and opening up more slots for the high-quality, professional counseling you deserve. Whether you're seeking help for identifying anxiety or navigating the complexities of grief, our new space is designed to be your sanctuary.

Breaking the Stigma, One Session at a Time
At Sunflower Counseling Center, we aren't just here to talk; we’re here to change the culture. For a long time, there’s been a heavy weight attached to the words "mental health." People felt they had to hide their struggles or "just get over it."
We say: No more.
Our mission is to break those stigmas wide open. When we open the doors to our Stone Mountain office, we are planting a flag for mental health awareness. We want our new neighbors to see our sign and know that this is a place where they are seen, heard, and valued: without judgment.
If you’ve ever felt like you had to wear a mask to fit in, think of us as the place where you can finally take it off. Together, we can stop the stigma and start a new chapter of healing in our community.
Creating a "Healing Nest" for Children and Families
One of the parts of the new office we are most passionate about is our dedicated space for children. If you’re a parent, you know that kids don’t always have the words to say, "I’m feeling overwhelmed" or "I’m sad." Instead, they show us through their play, their art, and their behavior.
We believe that a child's therapist needs their own space to properly facilitate that healing. Our Stone Mountain location will feature specialized play therapy areas designed to help kids feel safe enough to open up. Think of it as a "healing nest": a place where the smallest members of our community can find their footing.

How You Can Help Us Furnish the Future
Moving into a new office is a huge undertaking, especially for a non-profit. We want every person who walks through our doors to feel a sense of peace the moment they sit down. That means we need more than just desks and computers: we need comfortable chairs, calming rugs, therapeutic toys for the kids, and art that inspires hope.
This is where you come in!
We’ve created a Stone Mountain Amazon Wish List filled with items that will directly benefit our clients.
Why donate through our Wish List?
It’s Direct: You know exactly where your money is going. If you buy a set of art supplies, a child in Stone Mountain will use them to express their feelings next month.
It’s Easy: Just click, add to cart, and it ships straight to us! No heavy lifting required.
It’s Impactful: Even the smallest gift: like a box of tissues or a sensory toy: makes a huge difference in the "vibe" of a therapy room.
When you contribute to our wish list, you aren't just "buying stuff." You are helping us build a home for healing. You’re the teammate who helps us hit this goal out of the park!

Other Ways to Support the Mission
If the Amazon list isn’t your style, there are plenty of other ways to help us get our Stone Mountain office off the ground:
Direct Donations: As a non-profit, every dollar helps us keep our rates affordable. You can make a one-time or recurring donation at sfcounseling.org/donate.
Tax Benefits: Remember, we can provide donation documentation for tax purposes! Your generosity helps the community and your bottom line: it’s a win-win.
Volunteer: Got a knack for organizing? Love community outreach? We’d love to have you on the team. Check out our volunteer opportunities.
Spread the Word: Share this blog post! Tell your friends in Stone Mountain that we’re coming. Sometimes the best way to help is simply to let someone know that help is available.
A Note of Gratitude
Before we go, I want to take a second to say thank you. Whether you’ve been a client, a donor, or just someone who likes our posts on social media: you are the reason we can grow.
Opening this new office is a dream come true for our team. We can't wait to show you the space once it's finished. Imagine soft light, the smell of fresh coffee, and the feeling of a heavy weight being lifted off your shoulders. That’s what we’re building in Stone Mountain.

Let’s grow together. Let’s bloom together. And let’s make Stone Mountain a place where mental health is a priority for everyone.
See you in July!
With love and hope,The Sunflower Counseling Center Team
